Day to Day Itinerary

After an early breakfast, we leave Kathmandu for a scenic drive toward Besisahar, the gateway to the Annapurna region. The journey follows the Prithvi Highway alongside the Trishuli and Marshyangdi Rivers, passing through terraced fields, charming villages, and forested hills. As we approach Lamjung, the road gradually climbs higher, revealing the first glimpses of the Himalayas, including Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, and Annapurna II.

Upon reaching Besisahar, we begin a short trek to Kaulepani, passing through Lamjung Durbar, an ancient palace that once served as the seat of local rulers. The site offers not only historical significance but also a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys. Continuing along a well-marked trail, we reach Kaulepani Village, a traditional Gurung settlement known for its warm hospitality and peaceful rural atmosphere. We begin the day with a short morning hike to Purano Kot Stupa, an ancient religious site perched on a ridge overlooking the Marshyangdi Valley. From here, the views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak) are truly breathtaking. After taking time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings, we descend and begin our trek toward Ghale Gaun.

The trail winds through dense forests of rhododendron and oak, and passes charming Gurung villages where traditional lifestyles remain unchanged. As we approach Ghale Gaun, the air grows cooler and fresher, and the snow-capped peaks appear closer.

Ghale Gaun (2,100 m) is a picturesque village and one of Nepal’s most famous model tourism destinations. The community-run homestay system here provides a genuine insight into Gurung culture, featuring local cuisine, music, and dance. After lunch, we begin our trek to Bhujung, another beautiful Gurung village nestled in the mid-hills. The trail descends gently through terraced farmlands, rhododendron forests, and small streams. Along the way, you’ll see farmers tending to their crops and children playing in the fields which shows the beauty and simplicity of rural Nepal.

Bhujung, larger than Ghale Gaun, offers another rich cultural experience. In the evening, enjoy a homestay experience with a local family and perhaps participate in a traditional cooking session or cultural dance.
